Kilroys Breadsticks Recipe
Ingredients:
1 package of active dry yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water 2-3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly vegetable oil, for brushing on breadsticks Kosher salt, for sprinkling on breadsticks 1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment, combine the yeast, sugar, salt, and warm water. Mix on low speed until combined then increase the speed to medium and mix for 5 minutes. With the mixer still running on medium speed slowly add 2 cups of flour until a soft dough forms.
If the dough is too sticky add more flour one tablespoon at a time until it comes together in a soft ball.
2. Remove the dough from the bowl and place it onto a lightly floured surface. Knead by hand for 10 minutes adding more flour as needed to keep it from sticking to your hands or the work surface.
The finished dough should be smooth and elastic. Place the dough into a large greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
4. Divide the dough into 24 pieces and roll each piece into an 8-inch-long rope then shape into pretzels or any other desired shape (I made mine into traditional pretzel shapes). Place pretzels onto prepared baking sheets spacing them 2 inches apart then brush each one lightly with vegetable oil and sprinkle with kosher salt if desired (I didn’t do this step because I think they’re plenty salty without it).

Homemade Breadsticks
There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven. And when that bread is in the form of crispy, flavorful breadsticks? Even better!
These homemade breadsticks are easy to make and only require a few simple ingredients.
The key to making great breadsticks is all in the dough. You’ll want to use a quality, high-protein flour for this recipe.
Bread flour or all-purpose flour will work just fine. Avoid using self-rising flour, as it will result in overly soft and puffy breadsticks.
Once you’ve mixed up your dough, it’s time to let it rise.
This step is crucial for creating light and fluffybreadsticks with a nice, chewy texture. Simply cover your bowl of dough with a damp towel and let it sit in a warm place until it has doubled in size – about an hour or so.
Once your dough has risen, it’s time to roll it out into long, thin strips.
Cut them into whatever length you desire and then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they have plenty of room to spread while baking!
Before popping your breadsticks into the oven, brush them lightly with some melted butter or olive oil.
This will give them a beautiful golden color and help keep them nice and moist on the inside.
Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks
Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks are one of my favorite snacks! They’re easy to make and so delicious. I always use mozzarella cheese, but you could use any type of cheese that you like.
I also like to add a little bit of garlic to the breadsticks, but that’s totally optional.
To make the breadsticks, you’ll need:
-1 tube of refrigerated pizza dough
-1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-Parmesan cheese, for topping (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface.
Spread the shredded cheese over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle on the garlic powder (if using). Roll up the dough jelly roll style, starting at one long side and ending at the other.
Cut into 12 even pieces and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Brush each breadstick with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese (if using). Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
Serve warm!
Conclusion
Kilroy’s breadsticks are a popular recipe for making breadsticks at home. The recipe is simple and only requires a few ingredients, including flour, water, salt, and yeast. The dough is then formed into sticks and baked until golden brown.
These breadsticks are perfect for dipping in sauces or eating on their own.
